request to work together for the community development in india
Greeting from Global Cancer Concern India.
GLOBAL CANCER CONCERN INDIA – AN OVERVIEW

Global Cancer Concern India (GCCI) is a registered non-profit NGO. It is an autonomous body with very eminent and distinguished persons on its Board as Trustees. It is dedicated to the cause of cancer sufferers Global Cancer Concern India (GCCI) was founded under the Indian Trust Act of 1882, in Mar 1998 as a Not for Profit NGO, by late Maj Gen RS Pannu.. After his sad and untimely demise in October 2003, Mrs. Inderjit K Pannu who was already one of the Trustees was elected by the Board of Trustees to be the President and Managing Trustee. Late Shri R Venkataraman had been our Patron since inception and Smt Gurusharan Kaur is our Patron.

Not many people are aware that cancer is accompanied by agonizing and excruciating pain, which subjects them to enormous discomfort and restlessness. Sadly, in India 70% of the cases are detected to be afflicted with cancer when they are already in the terminal stage and are experiencing unbearable pain. This alarming state necessitated the creation of an NGO, which could strive to bring relief from pain, to the large population of the cancer patients.

India is one of the largest contributors of cancer patients, majority of whom have become terminal due to late diagnosis but yet continue to be subject to extremely costly curative care and treatment. Their lives are plagued with the pain and torment of Cancer. Consequently, for the great majority of cancer patients, pain relief and palliative care are the most pragmatic, realistic and humane options. The aim of GCCI is to address such patients with palliative care through home care to relieve them of their pain and suffering and enable them to live, as long as possible, in dignity and peace.

It is a registered organization dedicated to mitigate the sufferings of cancer patients, improving the level of awareness about this dreaded disease among poor people of rural and urban areas. Towards achievement of this objective, GCCI is dependent mainly on public support for carrying out its work. We have interaction with a good number of charitable hospitals and organizations, which are our partners in the implementation of our projects. The projects are in the nature of `Training of Doctors and paramedical staff, providing out door and day care facilities; Home care through out – reach, palliative care for terminally ill, awareness generation, counseling services, Nation-wide network of doctors and paramedical staff trained in palliative carte.

GCCI is working nationwide through Six Regional offices at Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh and Kolkota. It has resident representatives in 13 major cities. It partners with several hospitals and Cancer oriented societies for implementation and execution of the various activities under its different programmes for the cause. It makes a conscious effort to bring about attitudinal changes towards life, self-esteem, dignity amongst sufferers and their people. At the same time GCCI shoulders the responsibility with the government to “deal with the problem and meeting the needs” by working for the cause.

Therefore I request you to come forward to work with us for the welfare of people by sponsoring some projects.
