I have scheduled a very important training at Botswana Gaborone from Nov.14-18, 2010. Hence, I was applied to get my visa to the Addis Botswana embassy on Oct.20, 2010. Based on the embassy visa application requirements, I have delivered all the documents to the embassy visa consular officer on Oct.20, 2010. Then, they told me that I have to wait for 14 days to get my visa. Since, my flight to Gaborone was on November 14, 2010, I was waiting for the Addis Botswana embassy call until Nov.10, 2010, but nobody was called me. Then, I called the Addis embassy on Nov.10, 2010 morning and they told me that they are still waiting for the Botswana Immigration office approval. Then, I called the embassy the next day morning and the consular officer told me that even if she was delivered all my application documents to the mainland Botswana immigration office, they are asking her additional documents. But, I was called and learnt that the Botswana Immigration office didn’t have some of my documents like certified copies of my passport which I gave to the Addis Botswana embassy lady on Oct. 20, 2010. Then, I repeatedly tried to convince her to check her desks and /or contact the Botswana immigration office so as to trace these lost documents. Unfortunately, she was not interested to track these documents.
Then, my travel to Botswana failed because of this mismanagement of my submitted documents to the embassy. How can this happen? Actually, I know that every country has a right to give or reject any visa applicants. But, I believe that I have a right at least to get a YES or NO response within the above 14 days that specified by the embassy. Just, my flight & training schedule lost without knowing my visa applications YES or No response. Since, I travelled to Tanzania, Dar es Salaam, and Washington DC before, this is a very strange practices.
Dear sir/your Excellency, I am very much disappointed by the current Addis Botswana embassy visa handlings. Though, my training & flight schedule is already lost, but I want to present this case to the Addis Botswana Ambassador and/or Deputy Ambassador, or any concerned official in person so that the embassy will take all the necessary measures and/or replace the existing consular officer who is responsible for all of this mismanagement of my visa application documents. Please give her a chance to learn.
