কানাডাস্থ বাংলাদেশ হাই কমিশনার মিজানুর রহমান ছুটি সংক্রান্ত দুর্নীতি এবং মিথ্যাচার করে ভুয়া বিল উত্তোলন করেছেন। তিনি গত ৭ জুন ২০১৭ তারিখে এক ফ্যাক্স বার্তায় (নং ১৯.১৯১৯.১০০.০১০১১.১৬) ‘Some urgent family matters’ অর্থাৎ কিছু জরুরি পারিবারিক কাজে অটোয়া থেকে ঢাকায় যাবার জন্য ১২ জুলাই থেকে ২৭ জুলাই ২০১৭ পর্যন্ত ১১ দিনের ছুটির নিজে আবেদন করেন। সেই মোতাবেক তা [মন্ত্রণালয়ের ফ্যাক্স বার্তা নং-এডিপি ১-০১৪৩(ভল ৪), তাং ২৯/১০/২০১২-এর বরাতে] অর্জিত ছুটি হিসেবে তিনিই উল্লেখ করেন এবং সাক্ষর করেন। অতঃপর তা ২১ জুন ২০১৭ তারিখের এডি-পি১-০১৪৩(খন্ড-০৪)/২০১০ নং মন্ত্রণালয়ের চিঠি মোতাবেক ‘তিনি পারিবারিক কাজে বাংলাদেশে অতিবাহিত করবেন’ বলে ১৬ দিনের অর্জিত ছুটি মঞ্জুর হয়। তবে ১১ দিনের ছুটির আবেদনের স্থলে এই চিঠি তা ১৬ দিন উল্লেখ করা হয়।
পরে হাই কমিশনার সেই ‘অর্জিত এবং পারিবারিক ছুটি’ তদবির করে বা প্রভাব খাটিয়ে তা সরকারি কাজে পরিণত করেন। অনুসন্ধানে দেখা যায়, বিগত ০৭ আগষ্ট ২০১৭ তারিখে MOFA, Dhaka থেকে ফ্যাক্স/ইমেইলে প্রেরীত ‘Bangladoot, Canada’কে [স্মারক নং- AD-PI-0143 (Vol-4)/2204 ‘favour to visit Dhaka for official consultations’ হিসেবে] এই অফিসিয়াল ছুটি অনুমোদিত হয়। ফলে তিনি অসততা করে যাতায়াত অর্থাৎ টিএ-ডিএ এবং অন্যান্য ভাতার সুবিধা নেন। তাতে সরকারের অনুমানিক পাঁচ লাখ টাকা আর্থিক ক্ষতি হয়েছে বলে অভিজ্ঞ মহল মনে করেন।
