Cruising to Mexico
My husband and I are cruising the Panama Canal into Mexico then onto Los Angeles on Princess Cruises in April. We are Australian citizens with Australian passports. We have our ESTA for the US. Do we need a Visa to enter our Ports on the Cruise?

Visa required?
I am going on a 7 day cruise LA to 3 ports in Mexico where I might go on an excusion. As an Australian passport holder do I require a visa to travel on the ship?

Mal servicio

Apostille???
My wife and myself are currently working in Mexico as silversmiths and exhibiting artists. My wife and I have obtained within the space of a single morning, our working visa permits for 1 yr working in Mexico. However; for the visa applications of our two children, 4yr old and 1yr old, 3 very stressful months later, we are experiencing a beurocratic nightmare!! Their Australian passports did not suffice enough so we had to endure with a lot of expense and effort, the process of having newly printed Birth Certificates sent from Australia to Mexico. This procedure cost a lot of money as we also had to verify all our identification with a Mexican Lawyer, 3 months later, extra costs and extra fines for time delay, now the Mexican immigration office is telling us that these Australian Birth certificates are not considered to be legal without the official Apostille and that this mysterious procedure can only be done in Australia.

This whole Apostille process fascinates me! Please inform me what extra verification of an official Birth Certificate can make this official government document more official? What more information can be given to Apostillize these Certificates? We have already given all the identification and legal verification humanly possible to Mexico and Australia. So what is the justification for the Apostille? And why does this cost $60? It was difficult enough to supply Australia with sufficient Identification details to acquire the birth certificates. Apart from our blood samples; what more identification is needed for the Apostille.

When we applied for the Passports for our children, we needed to show the birth Certificates. So, now that my children have their own unique passports, why do we now also need to Apostille their birth certificates? This seems absolutely ludicrous! What is the point of the passport if it’s not good enough to obtain a visa? When my wife and I applied for Mexican working visa we did not need to show any Birth Certificate to legally work here in Mexico. So, why do our non-working infants need so much documentation which is now becoming very expensive and stressful? We now have to pay Mexico immigration an extra fine for the extended delay in processing my children’s visas.

Please confirm with me what medieval magical procedure does the Apostille require which costs $60 for a rubber stamp? Is there some secret hidden watermark that only Australia can verify? I am very curious!! Do we need to give our blood or a urine sample?

I need some answers please; because I am almost at the end of my finance and patience???
