I am an Australian passport holder currently cycling through China. I have arrived in Khorgas with the intention of crossing into Kazakhstan. I previously sought advice from the PSB in Urumqi who told me the crossing was open to foreigners at this time. However, on 8 May it is closed to all.
Are you able to advise me when it is likely to reopen? I am unable to get consistent advice in Khorgas.
I have 15 days left on my Chinese visa but need time to make contingency plans should the closure be indefinite.
