Afghan nationals marriage books
Salaam,
I am travelling to Islamabad to have my nikah I am a British citizen and my
Fiancé an Afghan national. I have been informed of the following to make our Nikah Nama valid;
Afghan marriages in Pakistan: For marriages that took place before 2005, the Pakistan Nikah Nama is valid for Afghan nationals if it is attested by Pakistan MFA and Afghan Consulate.
For marriages of Afghan nationals that took place after 2005, the Pakistan Nikah Nama is not valid for Afghan nationals. Afghan Embassy and Consulate-issued marriage books must be attested by both the MFA Afghanistan and the Afghan Consulate for them to be valid in Pakistan.
Therefore, as my partner is an Afghan National we need to make enquiries if we could get the Afghan and consulate issued marriage book in Pakistan. I know of there being an embassy in Islamabad , but we need to make sure this is sorted before I go, otherwise it will be a wasted journey.
