Dear All,
Its about time you realised no one is going to action your queries on this website. Uzb does not have an official website that it regulates (what a shame)!!!
For all matters- obtaining visas, inviting your lovers, intending to visit the country, renewing passports, etc- please do yourselves a favour and contact the embassy in AUH or visit the consulate in dubai. The councilate is located in Dubai, councilates area just opposite to Lebanese councilate. I dont know the exact name of the district but it is nearby Burjuman, in fact near Dubai Labour Dept.
The councilate works every day exc fri-sat from 0900-1400hrs.
For those foreign citizen who intend to travel to uzb as tourists- it is very difficult to get a visa from officials (both from the embassy and the councilate). Word of advice: pls get your contacts in Uzb get you a visa via the travel agencies in Uzb. Much easier and more importantly-doable.
And, another peace of advice: do not mind the unfriendliness of the (uzb) authorities/officials in the embassy/coouncilate.
Best of luck!

Pasport Renewal
Dear Khurshid.
It is unlikely Uzb consulate in AUH or DXB will help you get a new passport. Do contact the embassy in AUH. The matter would appear to be a very complicated and nerve taking one.
Passport Renewal- has got to be in Uzb. It is compulsory and unlikely done in the Emirates (there might be a possibility in other coutries, though; e.g Uzb embassy in the USA may cooperate with uzb citizens on this matter).
If you currently have a UAE res visa but plan to go to uzb- you will be required to change your passport to BIO (unless it already is a biometric one). The old passport is not returned back to the holder, and the valid UAE visa is NOT transferred into the new passport in Uzb. However, the UAE embassy in Tashkent will issue a letter confirmeing the valid residency visa of the person exiting the country (lets be honest with it- you only need it to exit the country; to show it to uzb authorities at the airport, that paper doesnt count a damn in the UAE).
You do not need any official paper drom the emirates.
To obtain that letter certifying the valid uae residency visa you need: a copy of the old passport with the visa page (black and white copy will do), a copy of the main page of the new passport, a letter from the passport desk on an official letter head form confirming (why) you changed the passport (u can request it and it will be issued to you) which needs to be translated into english and certified in Min of Foreign Affairs (this is a very long process), a guarantee letter from your employer (that you work for them and are expected to return to duty)alonf with (non-refundable in case of refusal) USD 60 (no scratches, no stamps, no folds- a new notes with no change). You need to submit these docs. The issuing the letter will take 4-5 working days. Once the letter is ready, you will be called to the embassy to collect it.
Hope it helped,
Khurshid
