justice!!
Over the next several weeks we are going to publish a few articles about a small , corrupt police state cleverly disguised as a transparent developing democratic third world country known as Mauritius . (1) Mauritius is a small Island off the coast of Madagascar in the middle of the Indian Ocean with a population of around 1.3 million people . Most of them living in poverty . (2) No , Mauritius does not have the wholesale slaughter of the Middle East but a dictator is a dictator and oppression is oppression and its citizens rights are being violated by a dictatorial government that doesn't mind infringing on
human rights or violating International Treaties to get what they want . CORRUPTION RUNS RAMPANT ! (3) On paper Mauritius looks like what they tell the world they are ; a transparent developing nation . In reality , things could not be farther from the truth . To quote a British lawyer when the current Prime Minister was talking
about
bringing back the death penalty for drug offences , he said , "What Mauritius says and what Mauritius does are two different things . " THAT STATEMENT DEFINES MAURITIUS ! (4) The world needs to know what goes on there . The world needs to say something . (5) Our first article is about something that was discussed at one of their last National Assembly meetings before they went on break . Something as simple as sending their foreign prisoners to their home countries to serve their
sentence in accordance with the International Prisoner Transfer Agreement . This article is not about foreign prisoners , per se , it is about Mauritius' blatant disregard and absolutely no respect for the International Treaties they have signed . (6) With the millions upon millions of foreign tax dollars and foreign aid pouring into Mauritius from : the African Union , the European Union , S.A.D.C. , India , British tax dollars , French tax dollars ,
American
tax
dollars , and not so surprisingly China ( who is pretty much financing the rebuilding of the Countries infrastructure ; dams , reservoirs , a new electric plant , and their new International Airport ) , you would think that the Mauritian Government would at least comply with some of the International Treaties that they have signed .
(7) Recently , the governments opposition party started asking questions about all of the foreign prisoners being detained in Mauritius . Why aren't they being sent to their home countries ??? As every government knows - prisoners cost money (8) Mauritius has prisoner transfer agreements with most of the countries who have citizens there . The rest could be transferred on a case by case basis between tho two nations . The exception is South Africa . South Africa will not sign a prisoner transfer agreement with anyone . (9) From what our sources ( prison officers that wish to remain anonymous ) tell us , this
is a list of countries that have prisoners in Mauritius : Australia , Burundi , Canada , Egypt , England , France , Germany , Ghana , Holland , India , Kenya , Madagascar , Morocco , Mozambique , Portugal , Romania , Seychelles , South Africa , Tanzania , Uganda , United
States , Zimbabwe .
(10) The transfer agreement is simple . The detainee requests to transfer back to his / her home country to complete their prison sentence - complying with the home countries laws of the crime they were convicted of , and also , both countries need to send / receive the prisoner . (11) The Prime Minister has told Parlament on several occasions , that , " Yes , all the foreign prisoners will be sent to their home countries . But once again ; what Mauritius says and what Mauritius does are two different things . (12) In the last 6 years , under the current Prime Minister ( Ramgoolam ) , only 3 prisoners have been transferred . Why ??? (13) Our sources from the prison system have told us that the majority of prisoners that are eligible for transfer have all of their paperwork , from both countries , completed except for one final thing . The
Prime Ministers Office has the final signature on the forms . The only thing preventing these people
from being sent to their own countries - IS THE PRIME MINISTERS OFFICE ! (14 ) Some of these prisoners have been waiting , LITERALLY YEARS . . . . . for one signature . (15) More lies ! The Prime Minister telling people what they want to hear and then doing whatever he pleases . (16) I wonder what the Prime Minister would do if other countries and organizations stopped sending their hard earned tax dollars and financial aid ? Boycotting Mauritian products ? What would happen if people stopped travelling to Mauritius - ending hundreds of millions of tourist dollars ? (18) Email your government . Email the United Nations . Email the Mauritian government . Let them know that you are appalled by the way Mauritius won't even comply with a simple
prisoner transfer agreement . Tell your government and the International Agencies to stop sending your hard earned tax dollars to Mauritius until they start to comply with simple treaties , such as the prisoner transfer agreement and start acting like the developing democratic nation they claim to be . (19) Here is a list of just some of the organizations and governments you can email . Help us stop oppression . You can make a difference ! You can help change the world ! : United Nations) InfodDesk@ohchr.org ) , African Union ( DjennaD@africanunion.com ) , European Union ( europeaid-eidhr@ec.europaeu ) , S.A.D.C. (webmaster@sadc.int ) , British Government ( bhc@intnet.mu ) , French Government ( ambafr@intnet.mu ) , , U.S. State Dept. ( HumanRightsWebsite@state.gov)www.unchcr.org) , Indian Govt (hicompol@intnet.mu),Australia (ahc.portlouis@dfat.gov.au) Russia (rusemb.mu@intnet.mu) Pakistan (pareportlouis@hotmail.com)
Coming soon : An article about the Mauritian Justice System . Our investigation is still
ongoing but what we have learned so far is truly unbelievable . Truly shocking .
