Possibilities of increasing rice production in Sudan Dr. Muhammad manzoor Khan
I have PhD in agriculture. I have post-doctoral work: (i) Theory and Practice of Intensive Multiple Cropping/Farming Systems at International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Philippines; and (ii) Intensive Rice Production Systems at International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Philippines. I have more than 30 years working experience in the International agriculture development and have worked and lived in many countries of the world Angola, Burma, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iraq, Laos, Malawi, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Somalia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Sudan, and Thailand. I strongly feel that rice crop production on large scale is possible in Sudan, as Sudan already grows some rice. There is also possibility of exploiting growing fine rice such as Basmati and Basmati types. In this regards I wish to assist the agricultural Ministry/ Department to formulate an appropriate project for such commercial rice production purposes. I will be most willing to extend my services for this noble cause of increase food production in Sudan.
