Post
We went there to drop off and pay for a VISA application .. We knew they didn't have change so we took the exact right amount of money.

They wouldn't accept it .. instead they told us to go to the post office across the road and put it in an express post envelope and post it to them ? We had to then pay for a money order ...

They weren't pleasant .. my son who this VISA was for was with me and can speak fluent Spanish but that didn't change a thing .. they were devoid of personality and inefficient.

Estoi intentamdo comunicarme con el consulado para una simple informacion y no se puede contactar de ninguna manera, esto es vergonsoso asi que esta situcion es mas de un pais tercermundista que de la España que ignora a sus emigrantes.

not answering the phone
To the writers of recent comments. I ask you: don't you know the employees at the Consulate have been on strike recently?
Maybe they are not even at their posts, or keep to a "go slow" schedule. Whatever, they cannot say
to be serving the public because by their attitude they show this very public not to even deserve whatever they are being paid now. If, on the other hand it's a matter of too much work for the number of hands/heads, by all means negotiate but do not punish the people who needs the services. It offends the intelligence that at the end of a 20-minute harangue and after following all the prompts and chosen the desired service all one gets is an engaged signal, truly "the end of the line". More like a rude joke!!
But ... we must not be gullible and think for a moment that this is a directive from the government of Spain. Perhaps if they only knew over there ...

Very rude staff & No customer service
I found that every time I have anything to do with a staff member there to be rude. They tell you off instead of trying to help you. I hate going there dealing with them that much that I haven’t had the motivation of going there to inscribe myself after I returned from Spain. When I called the Consulate to find information if I was inscribed (time past me that I forgot if I was or not) that the person on the other line was abrupt with me & even said that I could lose my nationality (I was born in Madrid, Spain). After that conversation I spoke to one of my relatives in Spain who is a Guardia Civil & he told me that under 11.2 of the Constitution: “Ningun Español de origen podra ser privado de su nacionalidad”. Why instead of telling me off did they not try & help me get together the required paperwork & book me in? That’s an answer I’ll never get.

Very disappointed - muy decepcionada
I just tried to renew my Spanish Passport by phone, email and in person in the Spanish Consulate in Sydney without any success. I can't believe why there is an office? because no attention to public and not service at all! Come on people, shake your legs!

No one at the front desk ?...
This is quite bad if they are representing for spain. This is what i call low Q business. I too have called many times in fact pretty much for 2 weeks monday till thursdays and when i call all i hear is the rining tone but no one seems to answer my call. I'm sure they are there in the office obviously. But why they don't pick up the phone? i wouldn't no. But this is been going for since 2016 same issue. It's not something they are not aware about by now. I have all my paper work done they answered my called last year a once off after calling them 20 times in that week. Finally they called they ask me to email them when i email them i didn't get a reply until 6 weeks later and then another long wait which i had to call them and no one seems to now answer my call ever since. Very odd though. The business is there. There's always someone a the desk entrence. So why ain't they answering peoples call ? Do they have a diferent number ?.... This is a complete time wasted by them. If they going to be good business they should do it correctly and answer peoples need. That's why we are here to get help with things done by them. Otherwise why bother having them based in australia if they ain't helpfull. Plus if they going to help at least to think they can speak properly in spanish as well for those non english speaking background. This is as worse cased senario.. Maybe they are indeed corrupted by spain or the lack of working in the office. I don't live in sydney. I come from Melbourne. I would like to go there and see who is really at the desk and why they no one answer the call. It be interesting if i was to be there and hear the phone calling and just to see if the person even picksup the telephone while im there. Seriously this is bad business... Whatever the case may be this is very poo graded business if they don't do it right. People here are wanting to become spaniards citizens or wanting to get visa or other documentations they require to and from overseas broad. Seriously.. I keep calling them but all it does is ring and does nothing but like all of you people have said it hangs up in 20minutes after. Same to me here too. Is there even someone at the desk ? because without the front desk.. there is no chancellor at all to work on people.

All i can say is.. No one wants to pickup the telephone at the office. The call we make to them goes straight to the front desk when you enter the office. But obviously she/he wont answer the call. And it be interesting if they say they very busy or having problem with the telephone. They wouldn't be saying the very same thing since 2 years ago. Otherwise if that's the problem they should have resolved it by having another phone and number or have more people working there. But then again no one enswers our calls so it looks like no one seems to be working there or they just ignores it.

Im 52 years old. I rather speak and meet the person to do my paper work. Just not online paper work. I need someone to explain what i need to do and what papers because i can't do this online by my self because theres too many sites left to right and just don't no what to do online. I prefer real face to face and not online work done. Looks like there is more negative feedback here then ive ever came across to a real office. And im suprised they are yet not aware of this since it was created. How stupidity can they be. Answer our calls or don't bother having the office there in the first place. thank you.

No answer. No answer to email.
I've also been trying to call them one after another all week long... No one answers the phone. And it's frustrating because I'm sure they are there in the office. So I'm quite suprise that everyone also has the same issue by calling them. Are they trying to make us do all the renewing passport online instead? Or they lack by ignoring the call day by day regardless. I personally had this issue the very same fact a fee years ago when I renew the passport. Now 2017 the same or even pointless in anyone answering the call. It's just so rude.i bet if I went to Sydney and web tto the office and see if they even there to explain what is going on.. seriously they just poor graded business. It's either that or they just pretending that they have issues with the phone. There's only one number to call. If they had issues for the past years.. they wouldn't be now saying they having issues with the phone.. otherwise they would had clarified it by now. Iive in Brisbane and I'm still waiting for someone to answer the phone. I even email and no one has even email me for the past 4 weeks and counting. Instead they don't answer the phone. So I email them with my details for renewing the passport. But haven't got a reply back what so ever. I'm starting to think either they exist know days or they are corrupted by the Spanish government. Typical. Hmmm

not answering the phone
I would like the Spanish consulate to explain why they don't pick up the phone. I have been trying for a week more than a dozen times a day, NO GO. What a disgrace! How do you get a appointment if you cannot contact them? AND EMAILING IS JUST AS BAD!

Service
I went there last Wednesday. I arrived late, when they were closing, because the plane from Brisbane, was late. I explained and they reopened , let me in and provided the 2 certificates I needed signed by the Consul and the Canciller.
If that is not good service, what is. My big thanks to them. Carlos
