From my personal experience, I think files stays on the desk until exactly the time mentioned as processing time (unfortunately). No harm in contacting embassy / consulate or VFS but all you doing is winding yourself up & disappointing yourself because your call won't speed up the process.

@Raghav - I have applied on my own.
I think there is no option other than just to wait for their response.
I called up consulate to check out the status. Once I said them that I called regarding CSV application status they were not even bothered to ask applicant name or passport number they just asked to check with VFS regarding the status of the application and they quickly disconnected call.

Business visa are too in processing
I remember there was a time I used to get South African visa in 7 days. Now a days it takes lot of time. Last time I couldn't make it to my meeting in joburg because I got visa on my return date basically last day of my workshop. I am worried this time I have to face same embarrassment in front of my customers. I have appliied through our company agent but he not providing any number to track also.

Please assist about the police clearance certificate.
According to the check list embassy required PCC for all countries where I stayed more then a year.
Pls advise it's constant stay or the total stay
Like I was in USA many times for 4 month, 2 month, 4 month, then again 4 month
