Use a different embassy...
This is the WORST embassy I have ever encountered. I tried on numerous occasions to contact them by both email and by phone and received no response. I ended up contacting the SA embassy in USA who were able to assist with my query... I live and work in the Philippines, and yet I have to correspond with a different embassy in another country to find the answers to some basic questions I had.
What is the point of having access to computers or telephones if you don't ever use them ???

THANK YOU NOTE
I would like to thank Leila Custodio for the assistance she rendered previously and I am sure that she will continue to work good for the South Africa Embassy.

For the other applicants, I suggest that they follow the standard requirements and timeline of the embassy for smooth processing of visa application.

GUARD
That is the nices guard I have meet in S.A embassy
(Compare the other one 6 yrs ago)
For what he is doing asking you people a question
That's is just part of his job he wouldn't do such thing if his bosses didn't demand or for what he has been told to do so before entering the office of SOUTH AFRICAN EMBASSY

By the way thank you again and again Ms LEILA COSTUDIO
for helping me not once for a visa but twise
Keep up the good work and for the negative people who is hating you ignore them. they don't have any idea how wonderful person you are if they just talk and ask properly
But again THANK YOU SO MUCH for job well done today

Compliments for the outstanding service
I would like to say a special thanks to Ms Leila for her guidance during my visa process. She made the whole process extremely easy with her instructions which were clear and fully explained. If other people took the time and effort to follow these instructions they would not find it a struggle. Ensure you have all the relevant documents and you will find it a breeze.
Thank you SA embassy and hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.

Rude! Harsh! Unprofessional!
for the Chinese woman who was put into shame and embarrassed by the security guard of the S.A. embassy, i feel sorry for you. you don't deserve that kind of treatment. a security guard should just keep his voice low and calm and ask a question NICELY- NOT SCOLD and NEVER COMMAND you to leave RUDELY without letting you explain your side COMPLETELY.

WARNING!
FOR EVERYONE WHO THANKED THE STAFF OF S.A. EMBASSY, SERIOUSLY? LOL! you can't just cover up the previous comments and complaints here about the embassy. Let's be honest!

I've recently applied for a work visa and all i can say about the South African embassy is this:

1st- THE FILIPINO SECURITY GUARD
he is so rude and arrogant that before you even enter the embassy he will ask you SO MANY questions that are so unnecessary for just a SECURITY GUARD to ask - I almost thought he's the S.A. Ambassador to the Philippines!! and ALL the S.A. citizens aren't allowed to enter "their own embassy" without any VALID reason. - I saw a few guys turned away. SO NICE!

2nd- PHONE CALLS
I called them a lot of times during their office hours and nobody answers the phone. One time, somebody did- and SHE hung-up. WONDERFUL! Great customer experience.

3rd- STAFF - Leila Custodio
I applied for a relative's visa 4 months ago, that LEILA CUSTODIO ACCEPTED, but after 2 weeks, she CALLED ME coz she said it's incomplete- which she could've checked before!!! When i asked her what the requirements I need to add for her to be able to send it for processing when i come back, she said "everything's OK, just an invitation letter from your friend", SO i DID that! when i got there she asked for additional documents and information. AND that happened again and again and again and again and again ...does she know her job and the information people should have??? Seems that most times she just makes things up so people will go away!!!!!

3rd- FIRST SECRETARY
Another thing I witnessed there was that this Secretary, refused to talk to a S.A. guy with his passport. He was asking to speak to a South African representative for something that seemed important, but they refused to talk to him and left him just standing in the embassy not knowing who to talk to or what to do. Eventually he just swore and left, cos nobody would acknowledge him ... I am shocked at how this embassy treats their own citizens...I hope I don't ever get treated like this by my embassy anywhere in the world :-/

These are just a few of the things I have had happen to me and also seen when I have dealt with this ridiculous excuse for an embassy. I really hope that if I ever get to South Africa that I will have a good time and experience, because if this is the 'face' of South Africa in the Philippines, its pretty rubbish. I hope someone like those South African guys I saw turned away are able to report this to some department in South Africa - and get the embassy staff here FIRED. Uv been warned!!!!!!
