South African Embassy very professional and accomodating
My cousin and i went to South Africa last year i dont have any problems with the visa procedures and requirements i just follow the guidelines and the consular staff Ms Leila shes very accomodating and reliable to us she's an asset to the Embassy because of the working standards that she shown towards from us keep up the good work! Patience is a real virtue and there are rules we must follow and respect is the only a key to a good service it must be a reciprocal way. I will visit again to South Africa and thanks very much for the assistance. South africa is a beautiful country.

These must be the worst embassy staff in the world
On the 11th of March my Filipina girlfriend and I arrived in a very good mood at the South African embassy in Makati at 9.30 am.The security guard immediately acted as if he was in charge of the whole embassy. He said as I was a British citizen I had no business there and I MUST wait downstairs-29 floors below.I tried VERY HARD to be extremely patient and understanding with him but he was VERY RUDE and did not want to listen to what I had to say.
I just wanted to enter to explain certain things to the embassy staff which would save them and us MUCH time. All we wanted to do was to get two tourist visas and have a lovely holiday in South Africa. They treated us like complete idiots, despite the fact that we have traveled to about 15 countries together
and we have never overstayed our visa in ANY country.
I was bobbing up and down in the lift like a yoyo as
I was not allowed to read my newspaper even outside the embassy. The security guard also asked my girlfriend to wait 29 floors below as no seats were available. We looked inside the small waiting room and it was certainly NOT bustling at all !!.
We tried very hard to make sensible progress with these tiresome staff who were obviously not keen for us to spend our holiday in South Africa but to no avail.
Our really good mood turned to one of complete confusion, frustration and TOTAL DISBELIEF.
We looked at each other and said lets try the Kenyan consulate. It was now 11.30am and we rushed downstairs and caught a taxi, after 10 minutes we
arrived and went to the 4th floor.
WOW... what a pleasant surprise.....we were greeted by a charming woman who explained everything to us,she immediately assisted us with the form which was VERY SIMPLE,the only thing we had to change was the travel itinerary from Manila to South Africa to Manila to Kenya !.
She said 'no problem I will keep your documents and
just bring your new itinerary before 5pm today'.
The consulate had NO security,a local radio station
was playing and all the staff were VERY NATURAL and helpful.
My message to the South African embassy staff is remember the customer DOES HAVE A CHOICE and you are taking business away from South Africa with your OVER STRICT RULES,REGULATIONS and very rude attitude.

Bad Service in Tourist Visa Assistace
Im a OFW-Overseas Filipino Worker here at South Africa. Working here for six years and planning to invite my family for a visit. However this plan turn into frustration.

A staff, named Leila, have no way of accommodating applicants. She telephone my wife regarding that Visa wont be processed due to her hundreds reasons with sound of rudeness. My wife just want to know the progress of Visa Application after all documents are forwarded to their office.

Hope this office will improve in rendering service especially to the family of Overseas Filipino Workers. All I want is to let my family see where their works for past six years.

My wife already cancelled the processing of Visa because of bad service from this office.

Very,very bad
I have travelled many countries ,but never have i find a worse embassay post than the one in Manila
I had the same problem as many other South Africans to get a visa for me to come to South Africa.

It seems to me no one care and that those poor philippina people must drive up and down to try to get a visa even all the documesnts are handed in as required. They never return your mail or answer the phones

I wonder if it will help to complain to the Dept of Home Affairs

Anyone whio went this route already please let me know 0784337985

Thanks

Shabby SA embassy
As a South African I can safely say that the negative comments on this site are justified. The few positive comments appear unrealistically over-complimentary and frankly, judging by the Jaques Kallis comment, hard to believe. Especially the ones with 'hugs' and 'kisses' thrown in.
I am trying to arrange a simple visa for a short visit by my girlfriend, a procedure one would imagine to be relatively straightforward. Not so. 3 weeks into the process and we are no closer to establishing what it is that is required than we were when we started. My girlfriends' application was initially rejected out of hand, the application was not accepted and no explanation was offered. I had to intervene and email the embassy in an attempt to find out what was required. Had I not done so; my girlfriend would have been provided with no info as to how to proceed. She was then told on her subsequent visit that the consular clerk would not entertain any further communication with me! Given that I am a South African taxpayer and that my taxes contribute to the upkeep of that embassy; I find it offensive that people there are unwilling to do their jobs.
After my email intervention, I was told to email the docs through so that I might be advised as to what is actually required. It took 8 days, plus another email reminder, to receive the required info. The 'correct' docs were then submitted and accepted (along with the comment about not wanting to hear from me again). According to the embassy, it take 5 working days for a approval/rejection but alas, my girfriend was not notified and the embassy phones were not answered on the 5th day. The 6th day was a Friday and though the phones were answered, enquiries were put through to an unanswered extension. It's hard to believe that, in such a small office, that this is not done in the full knowledge that that call is not going to be answered.
I have no doubt that when we eventually receive an answer, we will be rejected and that further stipulations will need to be met. And from what I have seen for myself (and read here) one is only provided with that info in small doses, so that many return trips are required, as opposed to being told all at once. No consideration, or respect, is shown for the applicants time or effort. This relatively simple proceudure is guaranteed to become a long and arduous task, conducted by disinterested embassy staff who are more concerned more about appearances than simply doing their jobs.
This task is also no doubt going to be made considerably more difficult by this post; it will be interesting to see whether the embassy reaction to this post is one of spite, or honest self-reflection. To all potential visitors to South Africa : don't think that all the govt departments here (and the country in general) is as badly run as the embassy in Manila.
