Comments on this Embassy
I can not believe that people coming to an Embassy of my country gets treated the way they do at this specific institution. An Embassy is there to ASSIST people in obtaining permission to visit our beautiful country. WHY are they rather making it an impossible and unmistakingly horrifying experience. I cannot think that officials are drowned in Visa appilcations. I see no reason why with all paperwork in place, this shouldn't be a straight forward procedure. Does these officials not take any pride in what they do? What does those in charge do to rectify this situation is WHAT I WANT TO KNOW!!!!!
Hi
Please all check back over the comments which are posted here, every time there is a negative post regarding Leila the very next day a positive one appears directed to her, l wonder if she not sitting there posting her own positive comments as she has plenty of time does nothing- anyway to everyone stop posting none in SA is listening Leila Stephane the useless rude staff and don't give a crap about you are still there, its a shame but they will not be replaced - its sad
My question is;"The people who work in SA Embassy in Manila, do they own SOUTH AFRICA??"
How come such good people from p
Just came from the South African Embassy and would just would like to share my experience, I used an agency to process our visa and we had problems with it as it turns out its not the embassys fault but the agency, I suggest for people who would lile to process their visa go there personally, Leila is very helpful and approachable, you will only have problems if your requirements are incomplete, I have tried calling and emailing also and the same as your experience, but now I understand, Leila is the only one there and would not be always available to accomodate calls and emails, just go yo the embassy and talk to her directly, less than an hour I was out of there and all my questions were answered
The embassy is disgusting they all should be fired useless

Like others here, my fiancee tried to apply for an SA visitors visa at the SA embassy in Manila. She has flown from Cebu to Manila 3 times, and every time faced an extremely rude and unhelpful woman by the name of LEILA TOSTUDIO.
In January I flew to the Philippines and went with her to the embassy but was refused entry into my own country's embassy! Certainly that's unconstitutional.
On her last visit she was told her visa is still not ready and was given a handwritten note with "extra requirements", including proof of funds in MY personal bank account (after submitting proof of enough of her own funds), and electricity bill for my mother's house in SA etc. She was also told to pay a 35 000 pesos (about R9000)"deposit". This nonsense understandably upset my fiancee. When she asked why she wasn't told about these "extra requirements" on her previous visit, Leila told her "That's YOUR problem. Now your visa application is cancelled".
Why is this Filipino person working at our embassy? Why are South African staff not serving the people?
I tried to phone the embassy and was twice put through to someone's answering machine. The third time someone took the receiver off the hook but didn't answer.
I wrote to Mr. McKay, Head of visas at the SA Dept of Home Affairs about this urgent issue, but haven't received an answer yet.
Most expenses of our wedding and honeymoon in SA has already been paid and all the guests invited, but the bride still doesn't have a visa after 4 months of struggling and submitting all the required paperwork.
I am so ashamed to have this embassy linked to our beautiful country!
They are a law unto themselves, and do us no credit at all.
My son's fiancé has been trying to get a visa for 7 weeks now! I even have the government trying to assist to no avail! They even refuse to speak to the government!!!
Realllly. bad...!!!!! very disappointing!!!!
