Comments on this Consulate-General
My wife and I preregistered and paid for Senegalese visas online and received receipts. I telephoned the Senegalese Consulate in New York to ask about obtaining the visas on our U.S. passports from the consulate. The gentleman who answered the phone did not answer any of my questions: what are the consulate's days and hours for issuing visas, can visas be obtained immediately or must passports be dropped off and picked up later? After 15 seconds of silence, I heard telephone rings on the line, then silence. No one was there. Calling the consulate was a waste of time. We'll get our visas at the airport in Dakar.

Dear Readers ~
I am an African American women who traveled (solo) to Senegal in May of 2013 to visit the family I met on a solo trip to Senegal in 2005; I also visited this family when I went to Senegal with a group in 2008. Instead of traveling as a tourist, I stayed with this family who embrace me as a true sister! I LOVE Senegal and highly recommend this country to anyone who is looking to experience true African hospitality. Below is the link to a video slide show that I created; it offers a glimpse of my experience of everyday life in Senegal. Enjoy!

My name is Renee Harleston and I am a graduate student of cultural anthropology at Hunter College. I am seeking participants for a study I am conducting on the food and eating habits of adult Senegalese immigrants living in New York City.
To be eligible you must be at least 18 years old and must have been born in Senegal and currently reside in New York City. You do not need to give your name and no identifying information will be associated with your responses.
If you are interested or have any questions about the study, please contact me by replying to this message or emailing me at rharlest@hunter.cuny.edu
Thank you
