Heads Up! Civil status of Romanian citizens (birth certificate, marriage certificate) issued abroad proving power in Romania only if they are transcribed in Romanian civil registers.
Romanian citizens are obliged within 6 months of registration of marriage to foreign authorities require acts transcription in Romania.
Act 201 of 2009 provides that if the act was not done preparing the diplomatic mission or consular post, it is in Romania at the local Public records of persons or, where appropriate, the officer of civil status of territorial administrative unit within the municipality whose area of residence of the parents.
Registration of marriage certificate can be made personally or by power of attorney, both spouses must give consent for its registration in Romania.
