Answering some of the questions
Hi..I'm Portuguese and Canadian but sometimes not really proud of it..I went once here to the consulate and honestly..waited hours and hours n didn't like how I was attended..rudeness...n to do a simple paper...the lady took forever..felt like..taking her out of the chair n doing it myself..well sorry plp for all of this..passed my eyes on some questions n got mad...no answer from them...I know Sandy that to obtain a Portuguese Passport for your child you need him/her to have a Portuguese Nationality..n that takes forever also..I did it for my kids..for Renewal of PT Passports..need PT I.D..like cartao de cidadania, old Passport n probably Birth Certificate..but I would take all documents..cause in these places better be prepared..n think its around 70-80$

Sad but true ...
I've had to reach out to the Portuguese Consulate only twice and both times I've had bad experiences. I was going to provide more detail but I'll just agree with most of these comments and add that the people I dealt with had very poor attitude and shouldn't be servicing the public. If my elderly parents weren't with me at the time, I would have likely shared that with them!

INFO
Hello,
RE: SANDY
Yes, I am a canadian and I got my dual citizen ship through my mom who's portuguese. It took years to get my portuguese passport and it's done easier if you go to portugual or get someone in portugal to do it for you. Portuguese consulates and officials DO NOT LIKE non-portuguese citizens applying for citizenship when you don't speak the language. So, yes, you will experience a whole lot of BS. Get someone who speaks the languages to call the consulate or embassy for you and you will be treated quicker and better. I'm lucky I had my mom.

My question: I've had my portuguese passport for over 4 years... But, I've been living and working in canada only. Do I have to pay taxes to portugal for this whole time since I became a citizen????

What Is Needed To Renew Portuguese Passport and PR Card
Hello

Can somebody please tell me what is the required documentation to renew an expired Portuguese passport and PR card? Passport should be renewed first before the PR card right? Thx.

They do not return messages. They are not more superior than others. Unfortunatly they seem to think so and that is really sad. I left 8 messages and no call back, I had to wait on the phone for 45 minutes b4 getting someone to answer 1 simple question . Sad but true .
