I am a female born in Portugal. I am a Swiss citizen and looking forward to obtain my first Portuguese passport. I reside in Brooklyn, New York.
What documents do I need, where must I present the required documents, how much is the fee to obtain my passport and how long may it take from the time I submit my completed application with all required documentation until the time I obtain my passport in hand?

You need to get the birth certificate from Venezuela, translate it to Portuguese, Notarize documents and then get them legalized/Apostille at the Ministry of Home or External Affairs in this country. Once you are ready, I can guide you further. Portuguese Consulates or Embassy's are not authorised to accept documentation for nationality in the US.
My parents are portuguese. I was (unfortunately)born in Venezuela. What do I need to do to obtain my Portuguese citizenship. I have an original birth certificate and am an American citizen. What would I need to provide? And where would I need to take the documentation?

I am suprised to read some of the comments above. I am an American Citizen and have been to the Consulate many times over the years with my Portugese born husband. I find that the employees are friendly, knowledge,and helpful. We have relocated to Portugal twice and they were very helpful. The office of the Consulate is clean and updated and even though it is still located in the same building, its a beautiful building. Muinto Obrigadao para Tudo!

My dad was born in Portugal but at the age of 17 went to Brasil and later came to the United States of America. While living and working here, he became a American Citizen and has lived in America for 50 years. He has no properties in Portugal or in Brasil. My question is, Upon the death of my Dad "is it vital to inform and bring the Death Certificate to the Portuguese Consulate?"
Wow! its sad to hear that the consulate is still the same as it was years ago, I have been fortunate not to need their services but now I must go there and I am almost afraid of dealing with them after reading all the comments. I was born in Portugal, raised in the USA and can not believe how rude and unfriendly they are. Very disappointed to hear all the terrible comments.
i john m.mcnally 3rd very seriously would like to know why the country of portugal would not want to get a found shipwreck and royal lost but found knight templar treasure from castle ourem which is truthfully king solomons temple and is estimated value 3 trillion in gold ,silver royal crown jewels that belong and stem from ancient culture of portugal. mr joao gouveia do you have an answer to this? respectfully,john m.mcnally 3rd.
