MRP system is back on-the real story
The great news is that the MRP system is back on and I could renew my passport. There were a 120 applicants so things did get dealayed but the staff were very cooperative.
I also got to know the real story why the MRP processing was delayed. It was not due to technical reasons but because the Consul General, who is known to be a very strict and no-nonsense person had earlier sacked the incharge of MRP wing because he had misbehaved with a lady applicant. So here is my piece of gossip.

no need to make photos etc earlier
I went to the consulate last week. It is simply outstanding. It is huge. Kids can play inside along the side. It took me 20 mins to reach there from Mississauga.
The great thing was that you can now get photographs photocopies and form filling help from a counter there. Somebody told me they are going to have a dry food and refreshments counter. I also had to get my drivers license from Service Canada which has a common wall with the consulate. My Canadian friends will be surprised to know that the Consulate is better than the Service Canada office in all respects. There is a modern ticketing system, comfortable seating, modern architecture and LOTS and LOTS of space.
I have one complaint only. The nice person who does photos and photocopying was not issuing receipts. That may be due to the rush but it is important that this is done. However, it is a fabulous Pakistani facility that i could be proud of for the first time in my life.

From Hamilton
I live near the US border. Now it is a thousand times easier to go to the consulate. And it is of international standards now. I am a refugee. I told that at the counter. I was still treated with dignity and honour. After a wait time of 25 minutes, I was interviewed by a young lady who called me after one week. I was a bit annoyed. After one week, the consul general interviewed me, advised me and issued me a passport.
He and the lady were very professional, but more important, very human.
This is my experience. I do not have to "kiss ass" . I am overall very happy with the consulate

Thanks
First of I would like to thank this website. This is the first site that comes on google. However please put emergency number of the consulate in the contact information.
I am proud to belong to the Ahmadi community. Mr Akram most members of my community live in Vaughan. So I found your comment very repulsive.
Today is the second day of eid. My father was very ill. I texted the consulates emergency number yesterday and I got a visa at 1-00 am last night. I am very proud of Pakistan now despite being an Ahmadi.
My friend lives in Mississauga. She told me that the consulate is now much easily accessible and you feel proud when you go inside.
Mr Akram I have a request to make. Please go to the consulate and then write. And don't abuse please.

services and behaviour of consulate staff
I do not know why Pakistani brothers forget the difference between Canada and Pakistan.Thy should not expect the same level of efficiency and pleasant attitude from consulate staff. Please visit the consulate with positive attitude and I assure you that you will come back satisfied.Keep in mind the difference between present and past and you will feel satisfaction. Please praise when you find something praise-worthy and do not hesitate to criticize when things found in consulate contrary to your expectation so that they may improve. But appreciation and recognition is a key to motivate the staff for further improvement. Hameed

consulate services
I absolutely agree consulate should have been shifted to a locality where Pakistanis could reach conveniently. But I am extremely annoyed at the criticism some of my brothers are hurling at consulate staff. I swear by Allah I had no complaint whatsoever against any of the staff during any of my visit. On the other hand I came back extremely satisfied keeping in view what happens in my beloved country.Pls praise when you find good things and not only keep on criticising everything you find there. Improvement
There has been improvement in the last one year. Earlier the consulate used to be in a crummy dungeon in north York with large offices and a very small public area. Rude corrupt staff.
Now there is a 180 degree change. The new building is large and more modern than all other consulates that I have seen. The staff attitude is somewhat better. Rumour is that the new Consul General, Imran is very strict with the staff and recently sent back some officials when they misbehaved with a female. He also interviews refugee cases personally so the earlier corruption has ended. However, phone lines are still a problem and some lower officials still need to be trained
Still great improvement but room for more

Exceptional service
I had an emergency late Friday and I was texted their emergency number. I got a text back in 3 minutes and visa was issued by the Consul general HIMSELF Saturday morning at his residence. this is unbelievable.
So in my experience it was different.
