Issuance Of Work Permits To Be Allowed Soon
Companies To Be Issued Visas On Quota Basis
KUWAIT CITY, March 29: “Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor will soon allow the issuance of work permits for various commercial licenses in the private sector starting from April whereby the work permits will be issued based on the need of the industrial and commercial establishments for manpower”, official ministerial sources say.

They went on to say, “The distribution of manpower quota for the companies will be based on a number of conditions including the financial status of the company and its commercial category as per the Central Tenders Committee, which will entitle it to obtain 50 percent of its labor force from overseas and rest from local market.

The companies with foreign partnership or with trademark registered under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry will be entitled to obtain 20 percent of its workforce from overseas and rest from local market”. “The manpower quota allotted for companies with specifications lesser than abovementioned such as owners of small projects like Turk shops, saloons and laundry shops will be lower”, sources added.

They stressed that the process of granting work permits will be closely monitored and scrutinized, warning that violators will be deported while the company that sponsored them will be heavily fined and its file will be closed.
