Immigrante Permanente Replacement
I have resided in Mazatlan, Mexico for over nine years, and I was classified as "immigrante permanente." Upon my return from a trip to the USA, I presented a copy of my immigrante permanente to airport immigration. I used a copy for purposes of identification only, when using credit cards or other matters. The officer told me I had presented a copy, so I then gave him what I believed to be the original (I could not tell the difference). Immigration confiscated both and cancelled my status, making me once again a tourist. As I said, I have lived in Mazatlan permanently for over nine years. Is there any means to return to my immigrante permanente status? I am a seventy-one year old retiree, law abiding in all respects. Thank you.
