An experience of Consulate of Japan Karachi
Japanese are famous with their honesty and politeness around the world and I’m witness of it. They transformed warrier to polite and civilized after WWII.
Travel is my passion there are several visas on my Travel document. Recently I travelled to Turkey, China, Thailand, Srilanka and UAE and I got the visa without the help of any travel agent. However few visa applications refused for different countries but it was learning process for me. Many embassies or consulates now don’t interact the applicant directly they have made the drop box services like Grey’s where you submit your documents and later they courier to embassy such countries as India, Turkey , UK, schengen countries etc. Perhaps it’s easy process but you cannot satisfy if the visa refuse. Embassies and consulates have different attitude and environment. I have experience of Consulate of America khi, China khi, and Japan khi. USA visa process is very straight forward after submit the online application you have to reach on the appointment date and time at US embassy, they scan all your body, remove shoes, belt, any metal don’t allowed when you go inside. After entering to the visa officer area they ask you some questions and result immediately announced whether you are allowed or not to travel USA. In china you need a bunch of documents although the environment is very relaxing and they are cooperative too but the required documents are hectic.
The most polite and friendly embassy I have found is Japan so far. How cooperative they are, last week after filling a very simple application form I have submitted a tourist visa application with required documents. I have visited to Consulate Japan in Karachi. I entered in the Consulate after identification , there is a locker where I put my mobile phone and came to the desk for registration in 2 min I was allowed to go in visa section area ,there were three counters covered with black tint glass you can’t see inside , I was examine the place suddenly the intercom bell rung , I picked the receiver the indigenous person asked about the purpose of visit in a polite way in my national language, he was very friendly, asked about some further documents, I told him that I was from Hyderabad. He accepted my documents and gave me receipt and suggested me to call tomorrow after 12 pm to know visa application status; Usually consulate do not respond on call even they don’t reply your emails including China. But its very easy to contact Japan embassy, even on break they receive the call.
I called on a giving time Japanese lady picked the call with greeting Good afternoon, I told her that I would like to asked about my visa application status, she transferred my call to concern department, person asked me some further document such as activity plan and tax return of previous year, when I told him that I’m out of city he said you can also email us. That’s very conveniently for me I scanned the paper and sent to the Consulate. Next day I asked them about my application status they demand 1 more document, I emailed them. They confirmed all required documents are completed and application forward to the visa officer. Next morning when I called to embassy they said collect your passport on the mention time of embassy I went to Karachi and pick my passport with the Japan visa. They also gave me the papers which I provided them by email they printed these documents and returned. That’s very unusual , embassy and Consulate never return a single paper whether visa granted or refused but they gave me the those paper which they printed themselves. Even there is no visa fee for Japan visa. I really admire first time I write this pleasant experience for any Consulate.
