Why is it so hard to get simple information?
We are planning to go to Florence Italy at the end of September. It seems like a simple question as to whether we need to get a visa to visit or not,but with everyone trying to sell us something online,we can't get this question answered. Do we need a visa, and if so, what do we have to do to get it? At the web site for the consulate it does give the list of visa free countries, which the US doesn't seem to be one. It would be so very simple to also have a line to click on that page to go to visa applications for US citizens to apply for a visitor visa. Just saying......

Student Visa Process
I am from Oregon planning on going to Italy for 1 year to study the language. How long does it take for the Portland honorary consulate to send my application to the San Francisco Italian consulate to complete the student visa process? Any information is helpful!

Also, how can I get a hold of the Portland consulate to book an appointment?? Nobody answers the phone.

A.I.R.E
Hi, I'm an Italian citizen who moved to Portland about two years ago as a foreign student. About a month ago I received my two year green card and therefore became a permanent resident. My question is: How do I subscribe to the A.I.R.E? Can I do that here in Portland or do I have to go to the closest Italian Consulate, which I believe is in SF.

Thanks
Ann

US Citizen, Considering buying 2nd Home in Italy...VISA requirements?
Hi, I am a U.S. Citizen considering buying a second home in Italy. What are the current avenues for being able to visit/stay at that home in Italy when I want to? I do not plan to have any income earnings in Italy/EU...just looking to enjoy what Italy has to offer in the way of natural hot springs, weather and culture. I would like to know if there is a special allowance for people who own a home in Italy (paying all U.S. residence taxes 100%)...would I still need to apply for a VISA every 6 months or so?
