Dual citizenship a scam, sure seems like it!
I am totally disappointed with the hungarian consulate in NY and how they run their office. I went there three times with my hungarian born father and applied for dual citizenship and passport in February & March 2015. I have not heard from them at all dispite my repeated attempts to call or email them. NO REPLY! They took my money and encouraged me to have my children apply at that time to to save time and money. Good thing i didnt because they havent even granted my citizenship or issued me a passport. Im very disappointed in their dilligence and morality. My father served in the hungarian military and well as my grandfather. My grandmother was involed in many community and political functions through the years and this is how they treat their decendents? Encourage family members to gain dual citizenship and then take their money only to never be heard from again? I made three trips to NYC, all of which cost alot of money to go and stay there and return with requested additional information even though my hungarian born father was with me. To think i wanted to visit this country and learn of my family history ,ethnic culture and tradition of the hungarian people and the culture. I would have liked to visit the villages of my family and bring economical growth to a dying country. No wonder this country is in bad shape! I will continue to be the squeaky wheel but i am still
Disappointed beyond belief!!!

application for passport
I submitted all the required documents to obtain my Hungarian passport in March 2014 and paid the fee. I was told I would get it in a month or maximum 2 months. Now over a year passed and I have not received it, or any notification.

Travel information
I went to the Tourist office listed at 150 E58th St in NYC and learned it had moved three years ago. No other address given.
Have called the Tourist Board several times using number listed on-line(212-695-1221) and nobody answers the phone. Have left message requesting a call back and nobody has called.
Where can I talk to a person to get information about travelling in Hungary?
I don't want to think that this is indicative of what we will find in Hungary.
Please write or call me back.

No response
I have asked a simple question on the phone two weeks ago. Forms will be e-mailed was the answer. Nothing in a week. Called again. It will be sent was the answer. Nothing in another week. Now I can not even reach a person on the phone. It automatically goes to an answering machine. Unacceptable service.
