ESTA GENTE NUESTRA NO CAMBIAN, TODAVIA TIENEN EL MISMO SISTEMA TERCERMUNDISTA; NO TE PUEDES NI COMUNICAR CON ELLOS Y ESO QUE ESTAN DENTRO DE UN PAIS DESARROLLADO. DEVERIAN DE HACER LO POSIBLE POR MEJOR SUS SERVICIOS; QUE VERGUENZA PARA NOSOTROS LOS HONDURENOS QUE QUIENES DEBERIAN DE REPRESENTARNOS NO TIENEN LA CAPACIDAD DE HACERLO.
I emailed rfloresb@hondurasemb.org which is the correct email. However, the email bounced back. Please be sure your email at the Honduran Embassy is operating properly. It seems that some people are commenting that they cannot reach this Embassy by phone, and I cannot reach it by email, so what sort of Embassy is this?
Here is the email I wanted to send:
I forward to you a letter which relates to human rights abuses in Honduras. I have already sent this letter to various officials in the USA and Honduras.
The letter follows, below:
This letter regards the kidnapping in late July of PROAH international human rights observers in the area of La Nueva Esperanza, department of Atlantida, Honduras. Armed men kidnapped, threatened and then released two observers of the PROAH organization.
I request the following:
Ensure that the armed men guarding Lenir Pérez's/Minerales Victoria mining operations are removed from the area
immediately.
Immediately conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the incidents reported. I
request that the results are made public and that those directly and indirectly responsible for
these threats and the intimidation of members of the community opposing the mining activity
and of other human rights defenders, and for holding the members of PROAH captive, are
brought to justice.
Take the necessary measures to ensure that the harassment and threats against all members of
the community cease.
Take urgent and concrete measures to implement the Declaration on the Right and
Responsibility of Individuals, Groups and Organs of Society to Promote and Protect
Universally Recognized Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, adopted by the United
Nations General Assembly on 9 December 1998.
Ensure the implementation of the provisions of this Declaration, in particular with regards to the
protection of the right of everyone “…individually and in association with others, to promote
and to strive for the protection and realization of human rights and fundamental freedoms at the
national and international levels”.
Thank you.
