Help Me Get My Father a Visas to the US
My name is Wilder and I am a US Citizen. My father went to his Visa Appointment on December 4, 2012. He was told that I have to be present with him in Haiti and submit a DNA Exam to prove that I am his son. I understand the Embassy has to follow the protocols and processes that are in place. My father has all the pertinent information with him including his mailing address and a phone number where he can be reach. These information are also included in the application. He had a picture of myself from here and all the other documents needed.

My father was asked to provide his address, phone number, and a family picture with me. My father cannot read or write; therefore it is almost impossible for him to provide these things on spot without them already written or prepared for him.

I left Haiti in 1992 from Bombard’Opolis. There were no such thing as photograph or family picture around that time. We were peasants and the area is secluded. It is again near impossible for anyone in the village to have family portrait during 1992. The idea of having family picture was unimaginable. In my opinion, I thought it was unfair for him to be ask to furnish a family picture with me.

He was also told that I have been in the USA for 20 years and I only travel to Haiti only one time and it was earlier this year. The number of time I travel to Haiti is irrelevant to prove if he is my father or not. He was told that he is definitely lying about me being his son. As a result, he was sent back and required for me to be present at the Embassy and provide a DNA Examination.

He was sent away with no instructions on how to get the Examination and no appointment. It was shocking to me as a United States Citizen to say the least.

I am writing to you for direction regarding the rest of the process and also if anything can be done for me to not have to put my job here in the U.S at risk by requesting time off to travel a second time this year. I had to request time off last April to go to my mother’s funeral in Haiti.

Thank you for your prompt response.

Husband of a Haitian Citizen
Hi there, I am an American citizen and I moved to Haiti with my haitian wife for more than 30 years. I am trying to stay in Haiti and the process is very difficult. Here, money talks, I would welcome any free advice or assistance in staying in this country for the rest of my life while maintaining my US citizenship. So far the information I have is that I will need an extended stay permission from the government and an exit visa after 90 days, opps too late, been here longer than that. Anyway, none of the phone numbers on the internet work, the haitian government uses private cell phones so who ever you get, get prepared to pay them for assistance regardless of the department. I just got my car here after 6 months, they shipped it in April. I have excellent information for newcomer and the process for bringing a container, car and documentation. Hope to here from you.

Security Permits
I am a member of a Security Team for a large mainstream church in San Jose, CA. Our church, Jubilee Christian Center, through the organizatin Impact lives has sent cargo containers of food and clothing to Port Au Prince. A missions team of predominantly women will be arriving from our church.
I and my team members are all licensed to carry firearms and provide armed protection, by the state of California. We provide this service at the church, and are responsible for the welfare of the missions team. We seek permission and guidance on how to bring our firearms to Haiti.
