Shame on Guyana
Shame on the Guyana government with the current Passport situations and hassling in New York. It seems like they can’t maintain a proper website to educate people living in NY about Guyana Passport matters. Anyways, nothing better should be expected, they can’t even manage a national air-carrier, and when foreign carriers provide exceptional direct straight-flight service from NY…the government always find ways to get rid of them.

why don't anyone ever answer the phones
Everytime I call to get information no one picks up, this is ridiculous if your hours are from 9am to 2pm you must know time is the essence. The mail box is always full and no one answers, I like to get firm answers before going done there and I can't get nothing done. Please change the way you conduct your businesses

Guyana Counselate General in NYC
To all Guyanese that are seeking to get Renewal Passports/ Birth Certificates. Please ensure that you make copies of all your legal documents in case the shady Guyana Consulate Office misplaces/loose your documents. You should make copies from the covers to all the pages within each document. It's outright carelessness to loose one's legal document. At least you will have the copies @ hand to fight your battles with the Guyana Consulate in case they have lost them as what some folks in the Blogs have experienced... Shame on the Guyana Councel in New York. They need to urgently tighten their Belts & fight for their people..

For the affected people. (Guyana PP VS US PP)
It's just easy to say "change to a US Passport" due to all the Drama in getting a renewal for a Guyana PP. First, there is a process in place after you have been issued a Permanent Visa that warrants a "Green Card". After that You have to first apply for Naturalization @ the end of your 5 years after being a Permanent Resident. (Holder of a green card). The process takes approximately 6-9 months @ which time you are called in by the INS (Home Land Security) for a face-to-face interview. You are required to answer 8-9 questions by a HLS Officer & you must answer all the questions correctly, if You pass you will be called back to swear in & then You are issued a Naturalization Certificate, if You fail You have to reapply again. The whole process costs $600.00 or more & that's the process flow for those who are not aware of what it takes to get a US P/Port in becoming a Citizen of the USA.

Disappointment With The Guyana Consulate in NY
Every last Guyanese is very troubled by the fact that the US Consulate has moved/kicked out from their prior location & they never have the common courtesy to inform the public of their new location or a working phone number/s. Folks are very angry & upset that they have applied for renewal passports paying their fees of $100.00 for the past 3 months & cannot uplift their renewal PP since there is no working phone numbers available to call nor a valid address to uplift their documents. The complainants are stuck in the US b/c they are unable to travel to GT to see their loved ones or conduct any business whatsoever because they do not have their legal traveling document in their possession. This is a real shame & unacceptable behavior by the US Consulate Office. Please advise ASAP with full details on a solution..for all the people of Guyana that is grossly affected by this unmannerly behavior.

Regards,
Angry Guyanese

Guyana Counselate in New York (Shame on them)
My sister is affected by this whole scenario. She paid $100.00 to renew her GT PP 3 months ago. She went back on Friday 12/26/13 to uplift her PP only to find out by the Caucasian Security Guard that The US Consulate Office was kicked out of the building & did not know where they moved to. This is totally unacceptable b/c obviously there is lack of respect for D Guyanese people here in NY. Our President of GT needs to urgently get involved to find out what D problems R & put a fix immediately so folks can obtain their PP in a timely fashion without any Drama. I will report this issue to D United Nations & put them on blast in every news paper possible. Shame on D US Consulate.
