I am a part of an Srt History class that is taking a trip to Rome over our Spring Break (March 16~26) and they would like to get information on entering the French Embassy building in Rome to see some of the art on the inside. What do I need to do to get this request permitted?

I AM A RESIDENT IN ITALY FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS AND I WANT TO FIND OUT DETAILS OF MY FATHER AND HIS FAMILY - ALL FROM PONDICHERRY INDIA IN THE EARLY 1900'S . I WAS ADVICE TO BY THEM TO CONTACT THE FRENCH EMBASSY IN FRANCE SINCE ALL DOCUMENTS HV BEEN TRANSFERRED TO FRANCE AFTER THE INDIAN INDEPENDANCE. I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A FAMILY TREE, N ALSO TO KNOW MY ROOTS. I WOULD APPREICATE SOME FEEDBACK N ADVICE FROM U. THANK YOU.

I am leaving to India from the 17 july to the 8 August 2010. Tickets are already Issued. But I would like to know about the Visa. DO I need a visa? If yes, what are the conditions that I have to fill-in? Where and to whom?
I would really appreciate if you couold help me out with this.

PLS I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE INFORMATION REGARDING MY REFUGEE STATUS,I AM A POLITICAL REFUGEE FROM THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA RESIDING HERE IN ITALY SINCE 1994,I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF IT IS POSSIBLE TO TRANSFER FROM HERE TO FRANCE,I AM A HOLDER OF REFUGEE STATUS UNDER 1951 GENEVA CONVENTION AND CARTA DI SOGGIORNO ,thank you for your assistance
