I am Elegible for French Nationality
My father was born at 1952 in Pondicherry
My mother was born at 1956 in Tamilnadu
my Parents marriage at 1975 in Pondicherry.
But I was born in Pondicherry at 1982.I am having the Pondicherry birth certificate of mine. my father born in Pondicherry only. Shall I claim the French nationality certificate? tel me sir what I should do.

Sir,As per Franco Indian treaty of cession, 1956 which came into force on 16.08.1962, a french citizen born in French India (Pondichery, Karikal, Mahe and Yanaon) aged and completed 18 years,residing in French India or Indian Union,should subscribe option in the Consulate general of France in Pondicherry, from 16.09.1962 to 15.2.1963,for himself and his minor children born also in Fr. India, to conserve the french nationality. In default, he/she will lose the french nationality and become Indian. His minor children born prior to 16.8.1962 in Fr. India will follow the condition of their father. A french citizen born in Chandernagore, is not covered by the abnvesaid treaty and he can claim for CNF . Yours sincerely.

sir. If a person born in French india who did a publice service caen acquires the French nationality without option under the franco indian treaty. can his descendants who born in the French indai can be eligible to get the French nationality certificate
