reply to the "dont complain"
Seriouly, walk into any other countries consulates and they dont give you an excuse about helping people already in the office. They actually pick up the phones. Today, I called Boston, Washington, LA, San Francisco, and others and no one picked up the phone. I will complain because that is unacceptable. Its a 4+ hour drive for me to get to the consulate in Miami. I dont want to drive down and find the place closed.

Terrible Service for American or Salvadorean, What if you don't live in Miami?
My husband and I live two hours north of Miami and can't reach anyone by telephone. So this morning we took the day off from work and went in person to the consulate. We were told to make an appointment, but not right now, you must leave your phone number and you will be called back. Well they called back while we were outside and now we of course can't reach anyone back by telephone, because they don't answer and the mailbox is full. I am a Dental Hygienist and my husband is an Engineer, do we really have to take off from work , drive to Miami, just to leave our name for a call back who knows when? AND we were told in addition to needing an appt to authorize a power of attorney, in order to renew passport you have to show up at 8AM to get a number( limited numbers given per day) then wait until someone can help you, at 11am they were only on #15. WOW Really. Unbelievably bad service.

fellow citizens
i am afraid that while your observations are undeniably true, the poor customer service already detailed (albeit not always eloquently); is just a reflection of our society at large. let us - in an effort to institute positive changes that will benefit all salvadoreans - begin by exhibiting measured and controlled behavior, even in the face of adversity. an organization comprised of salvadorean citizens in florida should be formed in an effort to voice our discontent with not only the sad treatment of salvadorean citizens, but the pathetic image we convey to the rest of the world. this organization should in turn voice our concerns in an open letter to president funes. let me end by emphasizing that as a people, we hold many virtues that should define who we really are. let us make a concerted effort to improve on our weaknesses and put our best foot forward.
